The conventional point-to-point cabling between the PLC and the field elements is very expensive during the installation and initial commissioning. The risk of mistakes also increases proportionally to the number of cables used. You need much space in the electrical cabinet and too much time for the creation of wiring plans and drawings. The group of PLC interfaces and pre-assembled cables solve all of these problems.

The new interfaces and pre-wired cables from Weidmüller allow connecting the Honeywell C300 input/output cards to the field components in a manner that is simple, fast and error free. The IOTAs (Input Output terminal Assemblies) have been designed using PCB connectors manufactured by Weidmüller. These PCB connectors allow the user the flexibility of entering the field using point to point wiring or by means of a pre-wired cable in conjunction with Weidmüller’s FTAs.

The use of Weidmüller interfaces in control cabinets enables clear and simple connections between the sensors/actuators of DCS Yokogawa cards. Eliminating the risk of wiring mistakes, saving space in cabinets and reducing the time it takes to build cabinets, are some of the installers' main objectives. The interfaces also offer additional features which provide numerous benefits such as:
- Redundancy: the interfaces have 2 40-pole (KS) or 50-pole (AKB) connectors for redundancy purposes.
- Many of the interfaces activate a relay to indicate if one of the two possible power sources has dropped below a value of approximately 12 V.
- The cards can be mounted via tension clamp or screw connection.
- The interfaces can be adequately coated to withstand corrosive environments with a G3 rating (on request)
- Multiple functions are integrated: isolators, fuses with status indicator, relay and status LEDs.
This is just a small sample. Other products are also available. |

Passive modules for a wide variety of applications: 1) Transmission of field signals to the following types of plug-in connectors: - Flat-cable connectors in accordance with IEC 60603-13/DIN 41651 (RSF).
- SUB-D connectors in accordance with IEC 807-2/DIN 41652 (RSSD).
- SUB-D high-density connectors (RSSD HD).
- ELCO (RS ELCO) connectors.
- RJ45 (RS RJ45) connectors.
- USB inserts (RS USB)
2) Distribution of potential (RS VERT) 3) Modules with diodes (RSD/ RDS) for checking lamps, for example. 4) RSM interfaces with 12.7 mm or 6.1 mm relays, versions 1 CO and 2 CO. With tension clamp, PUSH IN or screw connection. They all reduce the cabling in the cabinet.

Relay bases (RSM) with common positive and negative to be connected to PLC or other type of controllers. The interfaces are made up of groups of 4, 8 or 16 RCL relays (12.7 mm) or RSS (6.1 mm). The connection to the controller can be set up using pluggable connectors or using direct cabling with IEC 60603-13 connectors. Wide range of options:
- 1 or 2 CO contacts with 16/8/6 A relays
- Voltages from 5 to 230 V
- Screw, tension clamp or PUSH IN connection
- Compatible with Weidmüller's solid-state relays
The range of relays provides galvanic isolation between input/output as well as between the adjacent contacts on the relays. This enables the various voltages in the controllers and those required by the various field elements to be safely adapted. |

The pre-assembled PAC cables establish an electrical and logical connection between the PLC and the PLC interfaces. These cables consist of the following components: - Manufacturer’s PLC connector.
- Multi-pole LIYY or LY YCY cable (shielded) with a cross-section of 0.14 mm² or 0.25 mm².
- Flat cable connector, SUB-D or RSV, for connection to the interface.
The cables are tested automatically for their continuity and insulation to guarantee the functionality for which they have been designed.

With increasing plant complexity, the obsolescence of certain PLCs and the relentless growth in demand for I / O signals, many installations or plants are having to replace existing controllers with new ones, without modifying existing field cabling.
With the aid of adapters, pre-assembled cables and interfaces from Weidmüller the problem of replacing one PLC system with another can be solved easily and safely: users can maintain the existing field cabling, test the new system and keep installation downtimes to a minimum.

Plug-in card holders are used to adapt cards from the Euro format (19") to connectors in compliance with IEC 603/DIN 41612 and DIN 41617. Plug-in card holders consist of the following components: - Circuit board with standard connectors and inserts with clamping-yoke connection.
- Flange housing and holder/pull-out mechanism for the circuit card.
- Plug-in card and mounting foot for attaching to mounting rail or directly to panel.
The plug-in card holders are normally used in the following cases: - For quick adaptation in industrial applications of different 19" modules, and for avoiding the expense of a 19" rack.
- When there are only a few cards to install and connect.
- The circuit board is located in a remote position where the cabling cannot be easily handled.
- An older system needs to be updated with additional electronics modules.
- For test devices, production processes and laboratories: where circuit boards needs to be swapped out quickly and connections must be easy to handle.
