In addition to the large portfolio of enclosures, Weidmüller offers cable glands made of brass, plastic and stainless steel as well as plugs, pressure compensation elements, adaptors and the corresponding accessories such as locknuts, sealing rings, flat washers and earthing rings. To match the enclosures, the cable glands meet the requirements of IP protection classes IP54 to IP69K and can be used in standard industrial applications, EMC applications or explosive risk zones, as required, and they comply with the approvals required for this purpose. The Ex-certified Klippon® cable glands also enable the connection of braided and shielded reinforcements with and without lead sheathing as well as the connection of steel wire and steel tape cables and wires. They can withstand temperatures ranging from -60 °C to +180 °C. Depending on the cable gland series and application area, the cable glands, sealing plugs, adapters, pressure compensation elements and accessories are manufactured and certified according to the following standards:
IEC/EN 60423 (metric thread)
IEC/EN 40430 (PG and NPT thread)
IEC/EN 60079-0 (general ATEX directive)
IEC/EN 60079-1 (Ex d ATEX directive)
IEC/EN 60079-7 (Ex e ATEX directive)
IEC/EN 60079-11 (Ex i ATEX directive)
IEC/EN 62444 (Construction and Design)
IEC/EN 60529 (IP protection degree)
The range of cable glands, sealing plugs and pressure compensation elements is available in metric (M) and high-strength (PG) threads in sizes from M 12 to M 75 and PG 7 to PG 48. When selecting cable glands and sealing plugs, the table with the sealing characteristics of the O-rings, flat gaskets and sealing rings must be considered. The O-ring or flat gasket is always provided to seal the connecting thread e.g. of an enclosure; the sealing ring of each cable gland is for actually sealing and clamping the connecting cable.
In addition to the extensive range of enclosures, Weidmüller offers a variety of cable glands for a wide range of applications. The cable glands made of brass, plastic and stainless steel meet the most various IP protection classes to suit any industrial enclosure. Depending on the series of cable glands and the application, the cable glands are approved and tested according to VDE, UL, UR, cULus, DNV GL or EN 45545.
The increasing sensitivity of electronic components and the increasing electromagnetic interference frequencies require cable glands to play an important role in the shielding concept of a system. This type of EMC cable glands are made for shielding against interference frequencies, with a 360° screening connection. A Finger-locking seal provides superior cable retention & strain relief, next to it, the cable gland meets the mechanical requirements of EN 62444. Due to the patented design a very easy and fast assembly will be possible.
In addition to our existing range of cable glands for industrial applications, Weidmüller also has products for use in hazardous areas, Ex e (increased safety), Ex i (intrinsic safety) and Ex d (flameproof enclosure).
The brass and plastic cable glands are approved according to the latest ATEX (EN 60079-0/1/7/11 and EN 61241-0/1) and IECEx (IEC 60079-0/1/7) standards. Depending on the version, the cable glands facilitate the connection of braided and shielded armour, armour with lead sheath as well as single-wire reinforcement and metal-foil armoured cables and wires ranging in size from M12 to M75.
In addition to cable glands for a wide range of applications, the product portfolio is rounded off by plugs, pressure compensation elements, adaptors and the corresponding accessories such as locknuts, sealing rings, flat washers and earthing rings.
