In automation, a high-availability 24 V power supply avoids costly machine downtimes machine downtimes caused by mains interruptions. For short-term interruptions in the range of several 100 ms, it is recommended to use a maintenancefree buffer module with an application-dependent service life of up to ten years. Longer mains failures are bridged by our uninterruptible power supply unit in conjunction with a battery module. Depending on requirements, these modules supply energy up to 40 A for 30 minutes or 1 A for 30 hours. Battery life is guaranteed by the temperature-compensated charging characteristic. Weidmüller‘s uninterruptible power supplies reliably protect 24 V DC consumers from power failures and voltage drops, such as those caused by mains faults, which can affect system availability. Together with the associated battery module and the power supply unit, the UPS control unit forms a complete DC UPS system with backup times in the range of minutes to hours. The total load is divided into non-safe and safe loads.
The UPS control unit together with the associated battery module and the power supply unit form a complete DC UPS system. In normal operation, the input voltage from the UPS control unit is connected directly to the load. In the event of a mains failure (drop of the DC input voltage) the system switches instantly to battery operation. Once the mains supply has been restored, the system switches back to normal operation and the battery is fully recharged by the integrated charger. Three relay outputs, as well as three additional active transistor outputs and a control input to lock battery operation, provide full remote control by means of SPS or DCS control. Numerous modes of operation and an easy-to-use status display provide rapid fault diagnosis and optimum customisation to the application.

Weidmüller‘s maintenance-free maxSHIELD DC buffer modules guarantee an uninterruptible power supply and are therefore an important basis for 24 V systems. They supply the required voltage to the electronic load to bridge outages. The maintenance-free electrolytic capacitors enable continuous operation at ambient temperatures of up to +70°C . Optionally, a parallel connection is possible to bridge longer failures or to increase the output power.
