In many industrial applications, the switching performance of contactors is not sufficient to switch loads reliably in the long term, so heating elements on plastics machines, for example, are activated in cycles to regulate the heating output. Electromechanical elements soon reach their performance limits. Switching noises produced by contactors in refrigeration technology, plant engineering and processes, where people work in close proximity to machines, often have a negative effect on concentration or are considered disturbing.
